I started blogging in 2003 as an experiment in Graduate School. Remember blogging in 2003? We used to call them WEB-BLOGS then. It was the perfect combination of geeky coding and creative writing outlet for both sides of my brain. I took to it like a marshmallow does to the chocolate part of a s'more.
In 2004 I finished my Masters Degree in Information Technology two months before giving birth to our first child. Read also: I pushed aside post-graduate school and my dissertation about retention rates of women in computer science in favor of spit up and diapers. Ironic, no?
Six years later I vowed to finish writing the book focusing on how women can not only make valuable contributions to programming, but which languages allow women to excel. This book is in production and will be completed in 2012.
As a woman passionate about web standards, CSS, clean HTML, optimized mobile sites and apps, and integrating sites with secure and stable content management systems, I often speak on these topics at a variety of conference types. In addition, I have been known to speak about writing and effectively using the web as a platform for creative expression, monetization, blog specific design and unser interface. Also, I have been known to love a good beer. Or two.
