And then we praised Jesus for a fart

Our goal is to be diaper free by thirty-five. Well, that’s Diaper Free in our house. By June 18th, 2009 we want to be diaper free so Mr. Flinger can celebrate his thirty-fifth birthday in undies.

Or, rather, we’ll all be in undies.

It’s been a long road to this point. Four and a half years of changing diapers almost without stop. There have been pull-ups, accidents, turds on the floor, stains. There are places we no longer talk about in the old house because of “that one time” when LB took off her diaper. Thank god it was a rental.

So this year, we’re hoping to be diaper free. And two days ago, there was a fart on the toilet. A single fart of hope. A simple “PPFffft” that acknowledges the dream and hope of this month.

BY GOD, BUDDY, Keep bringing the potty talk. And next time? Feel free to let loose, buddy. Your bottom will thank you for it.

(here’s a picture of us shortly after the said fart. We’re both so ecstatic we can’t stand ourselves. See that? It’s hope, people. Hope for a diaper free existence. HALLELJUIAH!)

Guess what! After nearly 10 weeks of diaper-free and accident-free, Sophia has had a TOTAL regression back to Pull-ups!

So don’t get your hopes up! LOL!!!!

I have reached that diaper-free existence. It is a beautiful place even though there are still accidents or maybe its just laziness or testing Mommy. I wish we could have a big bonfire and put the change table on the fire. smile

I was thinking the other day about how I’ve changed diapers for 8 years if you put them end to end. That’s only 2 kids!

    I’m happy for you!

Oh do I remember those days. At one time I had twins and a toddler in diapers… it seemed they were coming out of my ears. smile

2 weeks?  I think that’s a lot of pressure on the little dude (and YOU!).  I hope it works…but, don’t get down on yourself (or him) if it takes…oh…another YEAR.  wink Maybe shoot for June 18, 2010!?

Good for you.  Of course, 10 years of changing diapers…non-stop…2 weeks ain’t a lot to ask.  Hell, you had me at 4!!!  Good luck!!!

hey, my son is 4.5 and is ALMOST potty trained - it is my goal not to buy pull-ups by the time I turn 50 since my 6.5 year old still wears them at night and I am really old to be dealing with this but 50 sounds so much older so I am aiming for 50…35?  uh, I should be so lucky

good luck with that!  around here, she seemed to have a radar for how badly you want it, and then she’d do the opposite…
