In a possible “entirely too much transparency” moment, I have to confess:
I’ve been thinking of three.
THREE.
Babies, that is.
I was pretty sure my clock had plumb run out of ticking. I was pretty convinced being pregnant was NOT IN MY CARDS EVER AGAIN OH DO NOT EVEN LOOK AT ME THAT WAY UH NO.
And now? Now? I have the baby fever again.
My husband is taking cold medicine to prevent that from spreading.
I was sure we were done. I am sure that we’re done. But oh, OH, Internet, we make such adorable children.

Adorable Littles who do not sleep. For. Years.
I’m off to read my archives for a while which may very well be the best birth control in the world.
** My friend Laura said to list out the reasons why I want another one. Like a Pros / Cons list? LIke Ross did with Rachel? It looked something like this:
Pros:
Tiny baby fingers, toes and nose
Falling in love with another person
Adding to the abundance of our life
Cons:
I love sleeping
I love my career
I love sleeping
Our house isn’t big enough
I love sleeping
My body is still recovering from the first two
I love sleeping

I hear ya girl. There are days when i miss having a tiny… but then my friends go ahead and make some for me…. I plan on living vicariously thru them
You do make beautiful babies! Oh, and the list you made, makes me want to have another one.
LAURA! You’re NOT HELPING. You’re supposed to pinch your baby so he screams every time I’m around. But NooOOOOoo you made the most adorable easy awesome baby ever. Shiz.
Tess, I know, this is the ONE THING I am thrilled about. I get to hold it! A TINY!
I am in the exact same boat. My kids are 3 1/2 and 19 months, and I SO want another baby! Can’t say I blame ya!
I have four, and thinking about the stuff on your list makes me itch for another. (not going to happen, though.)
Here’s the thing, though. Do you want a baby because you are experiencing “puppy syndrome”? i.e.-people look at puppies and think how cute they are. But then again, puppies grow into DOGS. They don’t stay that cute forever.
You have to decide. Is it just wanting a baby a.k.a. “puppy syndrome”, or do you look at your family and actually feel like someone is missing? That your family isn’t complete yet, because someone who should be there is not? That’s the key to deciding whether or not to have another.
/my two cents from the peanut gallery
Quit while you’re ahead is my advice! Got 2 myself - more than enough to keep me busy.
Lemme loan you a teenager for a day. Or maybe just a couple hours. You’ll realize you need to keep the parent/kid ratio balanced. It’s too late for me, but you still have time to save yourself..
oohhhh Ben. Teenagers. Ooohhh yeeeaaaaa. That *might* have just done it. (I was all set up for things I already know, like babies are “hard” and do this etc but that whole teenager thing? Outta my league. OOF)
You’ll know.
For the record, I think there are likely 80 year olds who still get baby fever and experience the sensation of let-down.
Adore you.
Go for it! I wish I could have a 3rd baby but I’m OOOOOld!
Sounds like it’s time to babysit for a colicky 6-month old - do any friends have a baby you can borrow, just until you remember why you’re stopping at 2?
Clair, that’s the problem. My only friend with a baby has THE PERFECT BABY. He falls asleep on me. Dammit!
We are so totally absolutely done with the 2 we have.
Then we got rid of the downstairs diaper table… and I cried a little and looked at my husband and said “so we’re sure we’re done right?”
I’m so very truly sure we’re done. My 2 1/2 year old went an potty trained herself a couple months ago. No diapers is HEAVENLY. And my girls SLEEP lots. Right now Zoe is off on a playdate and Ana is napping. It’s silent here. In this moment I’m so very sure we’re done.
But last Friday my brother had their 3rd sweet little girl… and now I’m starting to wonder if I’m still so sure.
You’re better than me; I made my pros and cons list AFTER I was pregnant… oopsie! http://jaruuds.wordpress.com/2009/11/20/prego-my-eggo/
I’m going to be totally serious here. More kids, yes, they’re cute. But damn they are work. Less kids means actually being able to concentrate on them. I have four, and I’m having SO much trouble feeling like I can pay enough attention to each of them and meet their needs (not to mention mine). Enjoy the two beautiful ones you have (if you want my opinion!)!!
Sorry, dude, this STILL happens to me and now I have a baby shower to attend this weekend and, well, I will be of absolutely NO HELP until at least, next month
I have three and I love them all (of course… duh) but three is hard. A family of five is weird. Rides at Disney are made for 4 people. Tables are made for 4 people. Sedans are made for 4 people (yes, I know they technically seat 5 but no one wants to sit in the middle and if you get one and have 3 kids you will constantly hear the “I SAT IN THE MIDDLE LAST TIME!!” argument and you will lose your ever loving MIND).
And babies are really really leaky.
Two is good. Two is balanced. Two is even…...but they are SOOOOO cute!
Oh my goodness! I have missed reading your blog! Its been a while. When I had my second baby 4 years ago I would sit and read blogs while she was tiny and slept for hours. Then she became a toddler and NO MORE pc time for me. Now, just two months ago, I had my third and LAST ABSOLUTELY LAST baby, and he sleeps for hours, and Im slowly coming out of my sleep deprived coma….and I can read blogs again! for now. Anyway, so I dont have a point. Oh but wait. I do! Having 3…..Its HARD! My second baby feels unloved, I tell her and tell her that she is but, every time she looks back she sees the baby in my arms and asks “why cant I be in your arms mommy?” “mommy do you still love me?” oh it breaks my heart. I give her her special me and her time, as I do with my 12 year old, but that damn guilt really, honestly, keeps me up at night. Think about it. I love my new little man and I would not change it for the world BUT damn it, its hard being out numbered I will have a post about it on my blog soon. Thanks again for the great read!
Your babies are pretty so cute. I like them. Thanks
