I’m handing out pink slips.
Tiny pink slips to parts of the list, the giant list of “things I do.”
Tiny pink slips to excuses.
Tiny pink slips to not setting expectations.
Tiny pink slips to missing out on field trips.
Tiny pink slips to quick dinners and faster bed times.
Tiny pink slips to the constant glow of the computer screen.
At the end of the day I often hear, “but you’re your own boss,” and I puzzle. I am?
No.
I have people, clients, friends, websites. I have a husband who enjoys seeing me and children who need me.
I am my own boss but I share the load.
And these people don’t let me lose focus.

At least not for long.

I tried leaving a comment earlier and it wouldn’t post! :(
Move over…I’ll sit next to you on this bandwagon.
Today I’m handing out pinkslips to my dog who insists on peeing at 4am…to missing snuggle time with my kids this morning…to AARP magazine for putting Bruce Springsteen on the cover…to people who ask me to do things for them because they are too “busy” (and I’m not?) because they know I get. shit done.
Bah dum bum.
Thank God for that! I need someone to constantly remind me of “the rest of the world”, lest I jump completely into a project and forget to eat, sleep, use the bathroom, etc.
I am a total lurker (since Blissdom last year) and I have never commented, but today’s post struck me deep. I posted yesterday about giving myself permission to not get everything done, but with this post - you nailed it! I love the pink slip idea - it is awesome.!
I think I will join you and start handing out pink slips too.
Dang it! I tried to leave a comment 5x yesterday but my google reader was constipated or something..or else it was my cranky mobile phone…who knows.
Anyway…I should have what I wanted to say memorized by now but..I don’t. Just don’t give “quick dinners” the pink slip. She can really help you out when you need her…just stick her on part time.
Good idea! Darling photos.
Yes!
