Resourceful

Googling “Laughing Cow Cheese Early Pregnancy” doesn’t produce the results one would hope. (Unless you’re looking for a lot of women talking about eating cheese and cows and laughing about it, or eating cheese feeling like a cow and laughing while growing three headed children from the soft cheese in early pregnancy. Then you’d be right on.)

I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that as long as its made in the U.S., it’s safe. When I was pregnant with Ben, I stayed away from blue cheese and feta… come to find out, the problem with them is when they are made with raw milk, which apparently, they aren’t in the u.s.  So this time? I’m living it up with my greek salads and my blue cheese salad dressing (not at the same time) wink

    Huh.  Worked for me -

    wink

(I’m totally fibbing.  You did get me curious about eating cheeses while pregnant though, so I HAD to google SOMETHING.)

I remember looking this up during my experience of being a little bit pregnant, and Erin is right. Anything made in the U.S. has to use pasteurized milk, so it is safe for pregnant women.

Yeah, I was so bitter when I found out about the pasteurization thing about 8 months into my pregnancy. I could have been living it up the whole time!

LOL!  You find and google the most interesting things.

It took me a while to figure out exactly what the hell you were talking about.

I get it now! I didn’t restrict myself from eating anything when I was pregnant and they all only had 1 head. I called it good.

I think it’s pasteurized.  I’d stay away from runny soft cheese, like Frenchy-frog brie.  And no deli meat & cheese (listeria risk… albeit small)

Jeez.  Way to suck all the fun outta being pregnant, huh? No runny cheese, no sushi, no wine, and minimal coffee. Bleh.

I did just what you said, but I didn’t find anything about 3-headed babies. You’re such a tease.

First pregnancy I had caffeine and Tylenol probably 1-2 times each the entire time TTC and pregnancy.  This time, 1-2 times per week seems to be a good goal!  Don’t forget add tuna and other fish to your moderation list: http://www.babycenter.com/expert/pregnancy/pregnancynutrition/2657.html

Of course fresh salmon is safe and is the ONE thing I can’t stomach!

I would recommend going easy on the soy products, too - tofu, soy milk and Morningstar farms breakfast patties were staples during my pregnancy and now I seem to have a baby with a soy sensitivity. Hopefully it will not last, but damn, I hate milk on my cereal. Love the excuse to tank up on cheese omelets, though!

I don’t know if overloading on soy can create a soy intolerance in your baby, but I’ve heard people say that, and now it seems to have happened to me. So, word to the wise. Or at least, the very cautious!

    :D

I don’t have time to read all the previous comments because I’m supposed to be packing and I’ll probably get busted here in 30 seconds when Tom gets back from Starbucks.  I’m definitely not supposed to be reading blogs - PFTZ!!

I don’t know if they discuss food, but I lived by that safefetus.com site.

I think I ate laughing cow cheese?  Or maybe after gaining 105 pounds and going crazy, I was just a laughing cow.

Oops.  I totally didn’t even think about Laughing Cow being a soft cheese during my last pregnancy when I craved it and ate a ton.  The baby SEEMS to be OK….  According to the more well-educated posters here it looks like it was fine, though.  And that I was right to stay away from the Mexican soft cheeses even thought I love me some Cotija.

weren’t the 70s awesome?  OUR moms could drink and smoke and eat cheese and do whatever the hell they wanted.

Its so funny how we all freak out about everything now when we are pregnant, and when my grandmother went into labor with my mom, she sat with the doctor’s wife in their kitchen smoking and drinking coffee while she waited for her contractions to get closer together.  No lie.
