The Short Short Version

We went to soccer on Friday.

She got a haircut on Saturday.

I had contractions the entire time.

Born via emergency C-section on May 20th at 2:04AM, weighing 5 pounds 15 oz and 19 inches long:

Baby “O”

Who now lives in the NICU. We’re hoping he starts breathing better so we can spend some time with him.

I sordof miss my baby belly. At least he was with us all the time.

What a surprise!  He looks too healthy to be hooked up to all that stuff.  We’ll be thinking of him and the Flinger clan and praying that O will soon be pleasantly portable.

Congratulations. You’re the greatest, Mama.  Everything will work out, and when it does, we’ll all be waiting to hear about it.

    J05/21/2007

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!  I just had a FEELING you were going to have him sooner than later!  I don’t know why.  I know it’s scary to have them all hooked up to stuff (we went through the emergency c-section, wires, oxygen, etc. with B), but he really does look good for being so tiny!

He’s SOOOO cute!  I see a lot of LB in his little face.  All the best karma thoughts in the world to you and your family.  I hope those little lungs grow big and strong really soon, and you will have him home in no time.

    Congratulations Les!  smile  smile  smile

When Sophia was on the vent for only 3 hours, it just about killed me to see her that way. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. It’s SO hard not to be able to hold and cuddle them.

I hope that someone is taking good care of you, too. I think it’s easy to forget that you are a delicate post-partum flower when the baby’s in crisis, yaknow?

  • Colleen
    J05/21/2007

Oh, Leslie! Congratulations!!! He’s adorable. I’m so sorry he’s in the NICU. That is not easy and never something you’re prepared for. I hope you’re healing from your C-section too. You’ve had quite a weekend!

My love and prayers are with you that he’ll be out of there and with you and LB and Mr. Flinger ASAP.

Oh no, I can’t believe I’m just now reading this!! He’s beautiful! I love him already.
Why did he decide to come so quickly? Have you asked him that yet? Hugs, hugs, hugs!

I know I’m extremely late on commenting on this post but I haven’t visited your site in a while. My son was born on March 30 with respiratory distress syndrome and spent 14 days in the NICU. It’s really hard emotionally not to have a “normal” birth, especially if you’ve already experienced it and know what it’s like (I have a three year old). Leaving the hospital without my second son was probably one of the hardest things I’ve done. BUT - he’s home and completely healthy now, so the NICU experience is starting to seem like a dream (nightmare?) that didn’t really happen. It sounds like things are better now - congratulations on the birth of your son!

I know that this is waaaaaaay late but I’ve lost my blogroll and didn’t have your url!

My gosh! Baby O! My son was born 3 weeks early weighing 5 lbs. 14 oz. and 18 1/4 inches long so I know exactly how scary him being so tiny is. I’m going to catch up on your blog so I can see how he’s doing. Congrats again!!
