Only just recently, the weeks of getting 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night in two hour chunks finally caught up with me. Somehow, the following scene was wildly hilarious at the time and when recounting the experience to friends, I realized you really, really, really had to be there.
For posterity, here is Leslie’s brain on sleep deprivation:

Figure B: FLYING BABIES!

So we got desperate and started walking the baby at midnight. Then? We drag the stroller up the three flights to our room and leave him there.

Because? OH-MY-GOD-I-AM-SO-TIRED-UUUGGGHHHHHH.
The end.
(I may be witty in another three months. Or! Maybe I’ll even be thoughtful! OR! DRUNK! OR! OOOEEYYIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE. I miss sleeping.)

Man, my whole first year as a mother of two was exactly like this. Crazy tired. Crazy silly. Just plain CRAZY.
It does get easier.
Somewhat.
Really, not much.
You are cracking me up with your mama slingin’, baby flingin’. I really hope you can catch a break here sometime soon!
Oh you poor thing! (Did I mention, you are scaring me? *wink*)
Hang in there, this too shall pass.
Poor poor Mrs Flinger.
Yeah, I don’t miss those sleepless days and nights. At. All.
Here’s to a regular sleep pattern. SOON!
I miss sleeping too! Welcome to the club.
Yeah, I’m there too. 6 hours of sleep for a few days is OK….but for 2+ weeks, UGH!
Every 2 weeks or so, I crash out and don’t wake up until 5 AM when I wake in a cold sweat, thinking, “Why didn’t I hear J cry?” That’s when I discover that I turned off the baby monitor sometime in the middle of the night…sleepwalking I guess. I felt so guilty the 1st couple of times and now… *shrugs* Oh well….it hasn’t killed the boy yet. *sigh*
Sometimes, my sleep-deprived body bitch-slaps my “The baby’s crying!” brain back into unconciousness. LOL

You know you are adding YEARS onto Auntie P’s desire to have kids….!
so sorry you are sleep deprived—but the flying babies pics are a nice touch !
You are so happy in the pictures too—I can tell it’s really YOU again. Welcome back!
You have to do whatever works! I used to plop Bridget in her swing in the wee hours of the morning and leave her there to sleep. Now I just tell her to get in bed with her big sister
Sleep deprivation is the worst. You think you are dealing with it okay and then you after a month or so you really kind of start to lose your mind. Not saying that you seem to have lost your mind : )
Ours is almost a year and has been a pretty good sleeper for the last few months but has been sick for the last week so we are back to the up every two hours. I am miserable!
May you get a good nights sleep soon!
ah, the stuff we do when we are tired! Thanks for the laugh!
Les, I wasn’t sleep deprived during the festivities that night, and I still thought it was hilarious. I’m either really crazy or it was the 2 Long Island iced teas talking. (But AmyM is right. Hanging out with sleep deprived parents of a newborn is great birth control!)
Bahy-bahy—honest to God. Whatever it takes. We had one who only slept in the swing, one who only slept in the Graco play yard. And now i’m thinking—i sweated that?
Here’s to a good night’s sleep.
You poor thing.
And flying babies (dolls) is funny.
I thought for a second there, that was the real baby. But okay, whatever it takes to have a good time.
Crazy tired is still funny.
