Yikes! So many of us have been there!! Think about what a rock star you would have been if the chips had fallen into place. Why was the bus early? Can we blame the bus driver?

It a no win with our kids…I was snowed in at my sisters house one year and came home the next morning to a distraught toddler crying about how he ‘lost me’. It broke my heart, but sometimes these things are out of our control. They just…happen.

As they get older they’ll understand the details of our stories and forgive us for being gone, but maybe it’s not such a bad thing for them to learn? We’re love them forever and we’re as present as we can be…but sometimes there are obstacles.

Mother’s Guilt is an awful beast.

I’m not so sure you can make such promises to a child. You can’t control everything in the world and they need to learn that too.  And if you didn’t come back (god forbid), they need to know they would be okay too, or that there are things he can and should do. Like does he know to dial 911 things like that?  You are not a bad mother, you are one of the best!

Lump…meet throat…these things happen and, one day, you will forgive yourself as your children no doubt know that you love them AND, deep down inside, you realize just how much they love you back.
