Apparently I’m a 12, hormonal-wise. That is to say, my hormones came back at an HGC level 12 from yesterday. Apparently, this is news to drink red wine to and cook a steak for the first time since 1982. Or rather, to cook a steak for the first time in your life and eat one for the first time since 1982. Also, it leads you to call your husband in a complete panic, “How the hell do I cook steak?” To which he laughs, “In a pan.”
Well, all that would happen if you were us. That’s how we celebrate a number of 12.
The doc and I had a little chat about my eggs. I told him the specifics of the miscarrige, the absense of tissue, the length and duration, the cramping, the dperession. The fact that I’m doing so much better now I can actually talk about it without cussing or crying or sitting in the closet for a few hours. In fact, I had a lovely, very factual conversation with the only other man who’s seen more of me naked or half clothed than anyone else. (I mean, really, who else sees me wrapped in a sheet that much? I’m not in the KKK. So. There goes that.)
He mentioned that small fact about greater than 50% of pregnancies ending in miscarriage. He said that thing about how “if you weren’t so on top of it, you’d probably have no clue,” (like this is helpful?) and he brought up that I’m young
and I have a bunch of good eggs left and “you probably just hit the bad one.” Uhhu. Why, oh why, did we get THAT egg? Probably because it was next in line and that’s how these things work.
I knew I switched to Egg Beaters for a reason.

Egg Beaters… funny! Don’t you love the “to the point” doctors? That is how mine is and at times I find it so frustrating and then at times I find it so helpful because it forces me to relax a little. (Lord knows I need to do that more… RELAX) As for the steak? I have yet to cook a steak and know how to do it. Hell, I have had people over and served crab, but didn’t realize that it was already cooked and ended up boiling it for 20 minutes. Luckily they were friends, but damn I felt like a fool. I Meat? Cooking? I don’t know how to mix the two. Tofu? Cooking? I can come up with some yummy concoctions. I am pathetic!
Oh… egg beaters… groan.
Yup… nothing you can do except wait for your period to show, and then try, try, and try again to get knocked up.
But, Hry! The trying! It’s fun! Right?
How’d your steak turn out?
Love to you!
gross. who cooks steak in a PAN? don’t you guys have a bbq?
and i once heard this saying, “If you want a friend, see your GP. If you want a diagnosis, see a specialist.”
i don’t know if it applies here or not.
it would taste better if you broiled the steak…which is basically the same thing as grilling but from the top instead of the bottom. Call me next time hag; I will set you straight. My Dad used to pan fry a steak tho, and that is a close second in methodology.
you sound like you are in a better place, Les. hugs.
I’m glad you’re still rocking that sense of humor of yours!
Oh, and my daughter LOVES the toilet at the top of your page. Every time I go to your site she cries out, “Potty! Potty!” and won’t let me put any other windows up in front of it. So, I’m not gettin’ much work done. Yeah, thanks for that.
It’s good to hear you are doing some better. I didn’t know that it was greater than 50% that end in miscarriage, but that would explain why I know so many people who have had one (or more).
How was your steak?! I’m not a big steak eater, either! Too much meat in one setting I guess. Jason always makes them, so I can’t help you on the cooking part of it, but I am pretty sure he generally uses the bbq. Or a pan that imitates a grill… he worked at Sizzler a long time ago and they always used the grill.
I’m giving you a steak salute (though mine will be on the grill as all dead cow should be) on having a nice, happy little egg the next time.
Only one thing comes to mind when I think of Egg Beaters - grandpa.
I can only bring myself to eat steak in really nice restaurants.
I did know that 50% of pregnancies end in miscarriage- I dont know why I know that, health psych class, maybe developmental psych.
Of course back when our parents were having kids they had to wait so long to find out for sure that they were farther along and if they miscarried they didnt even know they were pregnant to begin with. I know people who find out at like 4 weeks and dont tell anyone for awhile, just to be sure.
Dont worry next egg will be a strong healthy egg
Okay, I’m confused. Why are you eating steak? You don’t eat beef. What gives? Is this some new medical treatment that I don’t know about?
Egg Beaters. Yum.
Ya, some weird craving when thy hormones were all raging. So I thought I’d try it. I mean, why not? People eat beef, right?
Wrong.
It is SO not a good idea for my tummy. I’m still in pain. Now I know. I don’t eat beef. Holy. Crap. I’m good for another 24 years.
Should I be eating steak? Does it help strengthen your eggs? Cause I’ll cook one up tonight. After I check to see if our mortgage check has cleared. I’m sick of hot dogs and ramen. Anyway I’m glad your feeling better too! Next week will be even easier and when that healthy egg comes along you’ll be even better. I know. Hugs to you XOXOXO.
Well okay then. That makes more sense now. You probably just needed some protein. Next time, try chicken.
50%? Huh. I’d heard 25%, but not 50%.
Glad you’re sorta feeling better though.
You need a George Foreman grill girl!
I’m laughing at **the only other man who?s seen more of me naked or half clothed than anyone else.** He’s probably seen more of you, or at least under better lighting.
That bit about getting a bad egg really doesn’t help much, does it? Especially when you are a control freak—- what do you MEAN it is all up to chance??? Come on doc, how can I MAKE a good egg go to the front of the line? The doc who answers that question would make a fortune.
Ok, if I were drinking milk I would have totally shot it out of my nose at the KKK thing. I’m glad you’re doing better!!
so 12 is a great number! that is something to drink to! I’ll be thinking great thoughts for you guys next month.
Damn I hate that 50% number. Doesn’t make us feel any better.
Wow! you had Steak?!! so good for another 24 yrs…ok, I’ll mark it on my calendar. I’ll be over next time. Hee hee.
I didn’t know about the 50% thing. I did hear that a lot of times, people don’t even know about it happened..
oh, thanks for the reminder… I hope we can get some egg beaters this weekend at the big warehouse (I think I know where is one here)
