Thought Of The Day: Feel, Don’t see

“Feel, don’t see.”
Often during Yoga class I find myself looking in the mirror. I’m focusing on my posture, I’m looking at my technique, and I’m judging my body. I’m watching my blood vessels pop out of various body parts and my face explode in a red furry of effort. I see sweat dripping off my arms and I think I must be the only one sweating like a stuck pig.
It takes me out of the moment.
I hear my instructor tell us to close our eyes, to breath, and to feel. She instructs us to keep our eyes closed as we balance. Without relying on our vision, intensity is brought to the pose and you become intimately aware of every twitch, pull of gravity, sway of your body.
I’m wanting to bring this same intensity to my daily life.
I rely too much on my eyes, my “vision” of my day, my expectations. If I close my mind’s eyes and work on that same level of awareness, I can appreciate so much more each sway of the day, each pull, each decision. I want to experience life, not watch it.
My goal is to experience today.

I believe you are experiencing it.
Can you describe the moment when you saw your child for the first time?
